Sometimes images turn out to be too blurry or sharp. There are a few ways to fix these problems.

High Pass Method

This is a good technique for increasing the sharpness in an image with too much blur or dullness.

  1. Duplicate the background layer of your image.
  2. Set the duplicated layer’s blending mode, under the dropdown menu in the Layers palette, to Overlay.
  3. Go to the Filter menu, and select Other > High Pass.
  4. Experiment with a pixel radius between 1 and 10 until you find the amount that suits your image.
  5. Create a brush with 0 Hue and Saturation and 50% brightness, and paint over any areas of sharpness that are undesired.

Gaussian Blur Softening Method

If your image is too sharp and could do with a softer feel, try this technique. [[

  3. Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and apply a blur with a radius of between 5 and 10 pixels.
  4. If the image is now too soft, change the blending mode of the layer to Overlay.
