PSDTUTS Photoshop Wiki / Photoshop Tools / Type Tools

The Type tool is used for placing text in your images. Photoshop provides a high level of typographical customization, and the Type tool is quite powerful once you've learned how to use it. It offers control over font, size, style, color, alignment, spacing, orientation, kerning, and so on.

[edit] Typing on a curve

You can place text in normal square or make a special form for it. You can also place text on a line created by Pen Tools. To do that choose Pen Tool from toolbox, create a curve and then, by choosing Type Tool from toolbox, hover cursor over line. Cursor will change, in this moment you can click and write on your curve.
